Math

Here's one of my math project called "Juice Box Design Challenge".

It's about calculating the  volume and finding the area. The first part is finding the volume of the container by Using the formula V= LxWxH, as you can see on box#2,  I was able to get the volume using the formula,

If L=6cm x W=5cm x H=12cm =360.

Once I have the measurement I started crafting it and building it according to our measurement plus I have to make it look good.

Then after that you have to find the surface area by using the volume

using the formula for surface area, SA= 2LW+2LH+2WH, by filling in the numbers we got form the box we can get the surface area

If SA= 2(6x5)+ 2(6x12)+2(5x12)

          =2(30)+2(72)+2(60)

          =60+144+120

          =324

After we calculated the surface area I constructed the other juice box with different measuments and by using the formula for volume and surface area I was able to get the project done on time.

This is my Plan a Party project as you can see in this picture. For me to complete my project I needed to plan out some stuff. In order for us to have a successful party we had to plan the party very carefully. My partner and I carefully thought out on how we can make this a party to remember. We throw in lots of ideas and selected the best one to be successful. My team calculated the number of people to be nvited which is very impotant because we need to make sure we have enough food for everybody. W ealso need to make sure we don't go over the budget. It was very difficult because some of the requirements for the party and then present the plan in front of the class.

REFLECTION: Math is all around us and in everything we do. It is the building blocks for everything in our daily lives, we don't noticed it but we used math everyday like buying groceries. We calculate the amount we buy in the store and make sure it's within our budget. The more complex the society the more complex the mathematical needs. The new buildings we built are far more better than the previous in order to withstand whatever nature brings and math has a lot to do with it. I'm very lucky to be a part of adventure stem, because I'm learning new things that I needed for my future. The juice box project thought me how to measure the volume and surface area when making juice box. It thought me the importantance of  knowing the volume and surface area in order to make the right size of juice box. The plan  party thought me so much like working as team to get te job done. Using math to calculate the number of people that will attend and the amount of food that will be use for the party. I also learned on how to budget the money which was very difficult, now i know how my Mom feels when she goes to buy groceries. But the most impotant thing I've learned was to be a better team player and to be able to spend within the budget using our math skills. All the things I'm learning now I know years from now I can say that it all started here at Adventure Stem Program.
